A video about the high country was meant to be posted now, but with this balloon chase occurring on Sunday, a massive effort was embarked upon to get the video ready in time for this Wednesday upload slot for it to jump the queue to be able to be featured in an AREG blog post…
High country next time, I promise.
Series 9 I guess was rather short - two amateur radio videos, and three cycling ones.
Project Horus, a subgroup of the Amateur Radio Experimenters Group, has been doing high altitude ballooning since 2010. We attend launch number 60, celebrating 25 years of AREG - launching a balloon with numerous payloads, chasing and recovering it.
Thanks to AREG - check them out at https://www.areg.org.au/.
Note regarding the phone call: it was actually to air traffic control, not CASA. CASA issues the permit, but ATC is notified when it’s about to happen.
(something about the High Country? Next video… this one skipped the queue!)
