Trivia/Background:
The second in the CSR series, and yet the first to actually hit the CSR proper. There was much preparation and a long journey in.
Video:
Description:
It is a testament to the sheer amount of planning and preparation involved in this journey that we are only now beginning the trip itself in the third video of the series.
From Wiluna North Road, we turn onto the Canning Stock Route 4WD track - starting as an unassuming gap between the trees with some muddy wheel ruts. We reach Well 2, with its information signs and continue through Cunyu Station, with the original path of the stock route being redirected via Snell’s Pass. We visit Windich Springs, then continue on to the completely restored Well 5, eventually reaching the amazing Milyinirri, Pierre Springs located at Well 6.

Trivia/Background:
This one comes with an annoying mistake - a title for Kunawarritji over North Pool. Don’t know how that escaped review.
Other than that, a lot of very nice drone shots… this was a massive journey just to get there.
The original filename hints at the original working title - “travelling half way across Australia”.
Video:
Description:
In this video, we embark on the nearly 3500km journey from Melbourne to Wiluna to begin our travel down the Canning Stock Route. Even this is an epic journey in itself, as we stay at the remote Border Village Roadhouse, visit the former Eucla Telegraph Station (or what of it is above the sand), travel across the vast empty but spectacular Nullarbor Plains, camp near a dam, then head up through a bunch of very small WA towns until we finally reach Wiluna, visit Well 1 and stay at the beautiful North Pool, then prepare for the real adventure…
(extra lower third in North Pool, accidentally labelling it as Kunawarritji - oops…)
The Canning Stock Route is a 1800km 4WD track through the middle of very remote Western Australia, following the boundaries of a historic stock route.
With only one fuel stop in the middle, and potentially being hundreds of km from the next nearest people, it’s important to be carrying everything you’ll need because there will be no opportunity to pick it up on the way.
I cover some history of the CSR, then set out preparing our vehicle to tackle it, covering water, food, fuel, equipment, spare parts, navigation and communication - everything you need to get out the other end in one piece.
All that’s left is to drive half way across Australia to get to the start of it.

Trivia/Background:
This one was partially filmed after the trip, for a few missing things, don’t mind the anachronism :)
This began Season 8, because why not? It’s going to be a big trip.

Trivia/Background:
This was a good trip, too bad about all the rain. After Mt Buangor MK2, I thought we’d be going up to nice sunny Queensland, where we wouldn’t have that sort of thing.
Video:
Description:
We take a trip to Byfield National Park and head out to Stockyard Point, drive down Nine Mile Beach, see Five Rocks (you’ll never guess why it’s named that!), and on the way, tackle Big Sandy.
All the while, keeping an eye on Water Park Creek crossing, because if it floods, we’re not getting out of there any time soon.

Trivia/Background:
I was always curious about that island, so thought I’d go there. Thought I’d be more alone than I was.
Video:
Description:
In this adventure, I walk across to Wild Cattle Island from the Tannum Sands boat ramp. This is easy… provided you wait for low tide.
The island’s mostly national park but you can camp there if you buy a permit. Beach driving is limited to those who own a property in the small amount of the island that isn’t national park.
But the island’s mostly known for it’s amazing beach.

Trivia/Background:
Headed to Bulburin National Park with only the Z Fc and no GoPros. Tried to make it work, and I think I succeded.
Really should have given the kit lens a go on the Z Fc, but thought the weight of the 18-200 would keep things more stable. I was wrong.
It’s more a review of the Z Fc, than a look around Bulburin.
Video:
Description:
I’ve used the Nikon Z Fc for a few shots in the videos that have been produced so far, but as promised, here’s a more in depth look at it. What lens should you use for video? Is the FTZ any good? Can a US$100 TTArtisan 17mm f/1.4 lens really be any good? How would it compare to Kubrick’s legendary f/0.7 Zeiss ex-NASA lens?
While answering these questions, we do a lap of Bulburin National Park to test things out. It’s a large section of largely untouched subtropical rainforest, but there’s not a lot there besides a few camp spots and a nice drive - still making it worth a visit.
This needed documenting, but I didn’t really have a lot of footage.
Arbitrarily, because we were going up to Queensland again, this became the start of Series 7.
Video:
Description:
In this video, I show you how (not) to build a GoPro mount to fit it to a RhinoRack roof rack. And then which bit you need to not use, after nearly losing a GoPro. And then why it might just be better to have it inside the vehicle…
Following that, some timelapse footage of the trip from Melbourne to Gladstone.
This was the second video where we reached the destination by walking to it (the first being the second video, Update In The Park).

Description:
Victoria’s got many islands, but there’s one you may not have heard of that’s in fact right in the inner city. It’s actually quite easy to get to, and on it there’s some quite interesting sculptures.
